I see some people ridicule the idea of #balance. I still maintain you need it to lead a truly happy life.

Having abs is great for a bit, getting lean and transforming your body to the extreme is a challenge that can feel very rewarding. However, I think it’s important to stress that, for the long term, this is not and should not be sustainable. Bringing your body fat back up and re-gaining strength and energy is SO important so please please don’t feel you have to stay lean to have value.

Your body doesn’t define you, yes it’s good to accomplish goals and challenge yourself from time to time but it’s also very easy to get caught up in the fitness obsession and I get that! It’s important to know when to say enough is enough, my body needs a break and I need to come back to a level I can maintain healthily.

My life post-comp is a bit of what I fancy when I fancy it. Probably a 75/25 balance of good to bad. As my family, friends and clients know, I love bread, I enjoy cocktails and a day rarely goes by where I don’t have a bit of chocolate. I don’t track my weight and I have cellulite but this is my healthy shape. I still train hard and I still love the gym, I’m just nowhere near as regimented as I used to be. Does any of this really matter as long as I still do a good job with my clients? As long as I still motivate people to be healthy or push through a good session at the gym? I don’t think so! Stay healthy guys! ✌🏼

Interested to know peoples thoughts on this. ‘Like’ if you think balance is a good thing!
