*CARDIO OR WEIGHTS?* by ⠀

It’s a common misconception that cardio is for fat loss and weight training is for muscle building. This is the biggest, baddest, dogcrap that I see people promoting all over the world. If you want to lose fat, you need to do both…and to a certain extent, your should definitely prioritize weight training. Why?⠀
➖⠀
Weight training will build you some muscle if you’re in a fat loss phase, not the most amount of muscle you can, and not in the most optimal way possible, but if you’re just getting into this fitness thing you will build some muscle. At the very least, it will help you maintain muscle mass if you’re more advanced.⠀
➖⠀
Moreover, weights will also help you burn more calories in the long run (because of the activity itself but also the metabolism boosting effect it has). Weights SHOULD be your main focus if you’re trying to lose fat, and you should train for STRENGTH, not for the pump. ⠀
➖⠀
Cardio will help you create a bigger caloric deficit and it’ll help you with your conditioning. But in my opinion it should NOT be your main focus if you’re trying to lose fat because too much of it will increase the stress hormone, Cortisol, and work against your fat loss. If your main goal is fat loss, cardio should be treated as a BONUS to burn extra calories, only when you NEED to introduce it. ⠀

None of them alone will be your end all be all short term fix. Keep in mind that together they work best. ⠀
